Season three, for Tradu/izioni d’Eurasia at the MAO Museo d’Arte Orientale in Turin. Nine breads, from a grey loaf and a Berlin Schrippe to a pretzel and a cranberry bread, get their prosthetics in the blue that travelled the Silk Road: cobalt from Persia, fired in China, shipped back west as Kraak ware, copied in Delft, Meissen and Savona.

The cuts are fitted with what that journey left behind: girih tiles, horseshoe arches, Salomonic columns, paisley, the willow pattern. Every prosthetic is a translation of a translation. The bread is the only local thing in it, and the only thing that will not last.
