SEDIMENTS is a seating / sofas / cushions design exploration with the concept of algorithmic form synthesis.
This is a bespoke process made by ZEITGUISED which generates shapes based on a set of rules. The rules are formulated in a way that the design language is set, yet the individual design results are unpredictable und surprising.
A ZEITGUISED design language is translated into a digital process that produces unexpected shapes to chose from.
Abstract shape design is tailored to true uniqueness in mass customisation. It works on all levels of complexity and scale.

FORM SYNTHESIS - ITERATIONS
Nine Journeys through Time Installation
at Palazzo Reale in Milan, April 2018
Curated by Davide Quadrio and Massimo Torrigiani
As the 5th instalment of the ZEITGUISED 'Intersections' collaborations on objects at the intersection of physical and digital space, the Sediments project manifested in concrete objects by the help of Alcantara and Plotini Allestimenti.
The set is a digital manipulation of the heavily ornamented 17th century interior. A sizeable area of the floor in the middle of the room is extruded and distorted via several algorithms, made bespoken for this site specific installation.
The sediment sofa is placed in the centre of the block which distorted by its weight and impact.
Every element is covered in Alcantara leather.
The eerie soundscape by Caterina Barbieri is delivering a dense, extraterrestrial atmosphere to the dignified space. The adjacent room sees her sound installation, designed in the same manner by ZEITGUISED. Sediment sofas invite the audience to remain and listen.
The other eight artist studios besides ZEITGUISED represented in the group exhibit are Aaajiao, Andrea Anastasio, Caterina Barbieri, Krijn de Koning, Li Shurui, Chiharu Shiota, Esther Stocker and Iris van Herpen (together), Zimoun.
A second version of the show (Multiforms: declinations between space and time) was staged later in May at Palazzo Rocca in Venice during the Venice Biennial of Architecture. It included Krjjn de Koning, ZEITGUISED and Nanda Vigo.
