XYZ Rug

Distort and transform

Webp.net-gifmaker (12).gif

In collaboration with textile artist Nadine Goepfert, the algorithmic tactile concepts from ZEITGUISEDs geist.xyz project were translated to the physical world as an extraordinary rug. Goepfert named the piece Distort&Transform.

The uncommon approach to rug design with the irregular silhouette, separate islands and interior openings was produced manually with a traditional knotting technique by a fair trade partner in Nepal and tailored in Berlin by Lyk Carpet.

Handmade in Nepal from 100% natural died Tibetan wool.

Limited Edition of 10
Size: approx. 150cm by 170cm

Price: please inquire

The Berlin-based textile designer is known for her focus on ‘real garment’ as a sociological-material connection and an experimental approach using traditional craftsmanship. In Distort And Transform her unique point of view encounters the nonphysical realities of ZEITGUISED to manifest as a rich tactile experience.

Zeitguised started out with an algorithmic design approach that devises a synthetic complexity opposite that of physical structures, resulting in a reality that is both powerful imagination and seductive visual experience, to be mistaken and desired as the “real thing”.

Nadine Goepfert approached the concept from a haptic, tactile design rooted in the physical world and its sensoric reflection in us.
