Tiny postmodern abstract machines struggle to move on, only to be surprised by a counteractive mechanical landscape architecture.
No keyframes, just scripting, mechanics, motors and collision.

SAMPLE SAMPLE
Material sample interpretations as simulations of macroscopically photographed nano-sculptures. The base for these enlarged tiny grown crystal structures are textile pattern, with two different levels of translation. One is the layer of color, where a scan of the textile is taken directly to color individual parts of the structure. The second layer is a translation of fabric weavings into three dimensional stacks of interlocked platonic bodies. Both layers are in an uneasy, off-set relation with each other. On a meta level, the simulation of photographed space seduces to imagine this setup as an existing material reality.

CONCRETE MISPLOTS
Featured in swiss architectural magazine Hochparterre’s “Raumtraum” section, these visualizations of future architectures search for the accidental in computer driven manufacturing processes.
Based on iconic housing shapes, these buildings were intended as prototypes for mass-customization. Yet, as things go with computerized manufacturing, there have been misplots. The cartridge was not loaded properly. The concrete was set to the wrong parameters or scale. The printer module falsely translated a data set…
These misprints are the rejects of this early process, and they are now being used as shared homes by elderly people from the former squatter scene. 2010 Art Direction, Architecture -
BOOLEAN TAXIDERMY
Intelligent particles, the size of dust grains, are programmed to fill nonexistent shapes (the mathematical problem of geometry packing). The "know" their relative position inside the imaginary form (i.e. distance from hull or center) and take on a color relative to it.

PUBLICIS: CONTAGIOUS
Publicis France approached ZEITGUISED to do a series of self promo ads for Contagious Magazine. They wanted to illustrate a viral infection with consumer fetish objects like street wear, gadgets and cars.
We went for an SEM false color look, but the project was not chosen to be published in this form.

BOOLEAY
Coming straight from plastic surgery, this is ZEITGUISED’s second non-traditional character animation. It is scripted and mis-uses parametric and boolean geometries and a dynamic system to develop.

ROOM WITH A ZOO
Piece for Group exhibition ‘Room with a Zoo’ by iamstatic, Toronto, Canada @ Resistor Gallery. The concept was to create an animated character that shows behaviour not attributed to mimicking animals or people, or any traditional character animation technique that is merely reiterated with cg. We were looking for methods that reflected the specific qualities of working with digital means. It features a technique where we connected polygon geometries to a bone system intentionally ‘wrong’ to distort them in a complex and dense manner. It also shows a trick that connects particles, spring dynamics and volumetrics.

DANCING ABOUT ARCHITECTURE
This music promo for DJ Kero was also presented as part of the ‘Three Minute Madness’ feature of BD4D. The architectural madness section features government buildings in Washington, DC shot during ‘orange homeland security alert’. It also boasts a bold combination of old school modernism and polybeef, as well as praying porcellain figurines and many more densely packed concepts that challenge the designer’s malleability of taste.
